Anna Liza was a primetime television serial which ran from 1980 to 1985 on GMA. It spanned a thousands of episodes. Anna Liza is based on a Cebuano radio drama series of the same name during the mid-to-late 1970s. The soap opera was produced by Television International Corporation.

Plot[]

This is a heart-warming tale of a girl named Anna Liza, who has an immense capacity to touch and change the lives of everyone who crosses her path. She is poor and has suffered abuse but always stay positive throughout her struggles and trials, and is always civil and caring towards others even when she is tired, sad and in pain.

According to Julie's mother, RPN 9 offered Julie Vega to play the role of Flordeluna but her family  declined it because she is under the contract of Larry Santiago. She gave this role to her best friend Janice De Belen. Anna Liza was a radio drama in Cebu during the seventies. Ray Benedicto Julie's mand Raynee Salgado brought the radio drama's story to Manila to adapt the radio drama as a television series and the show will be directed by Gil Soriano. The role of Anna Liza was given to Julie Vega. The series received the attention of thousands of Filipinos making it one of the most popular and well-loved drama series of all time.  All scenes from Anna Liza was shot inside the Studio. Sometimes they shoot outside of the studio.

Remake[]

After the success of Maria Flordeluna, Annaliza was supposed to be remade last 2008, to be led by Ella Cruz as the young Annaliza and Maja Salvador as the teenage Annaliza, but ABS-CBN decided to shelve the show. 5 years later, ABS-CBN announced that they got the rights to remake Anna Liza from its original director, Gil C. Soriano. Andrea Brillantes will play the lead role.

Trivia[]

  • Some scenes in the soap opera featured Anna Liza who is bedridden, to coincide with Julie Vega's current state that time.
  • The soap opera ended with in an incomplete storyline as result from Julie Vega's death. In the soap opera, since Anna Liza was shown bedridden, it can also be assumed the soap opera ended with her death.
